Overview

Mineralization is a type of carbon removal that occurs when certain deposits — often the ones found in mining waste piles — react with carbon dioxide to form new minerals, called carbonates. Read our new policy paper on how an existing EPA program could help us convert mine waste liabilities into assets, while removing carbon in the process.
